Massage Therapy

Massage is a method by which soft tissue (muscles and tendons) are influenced by the hands of a licensed therapist. Many common uses of massage are for simple overall relaxation, specific muscular relaxation, reducing muscle tension prior to other therapy, improving range of motion and flexibility, pain relief, lymphatic drainage and reduction of swelling, and many more. While most people may think of a spa massage as one with hot stones and wet towels, our massage services are meant to compliment our chiropractic care, or are available as a stand alone service. You do not necessarily need to become a chiropractic patient in order to utilize our massage service.
Massage is an incredible way to help your body help itself. While massage is great for multiple body systems, most people think of it as a muscular based therapy. It can help to relax muscles prior to an adjustment, increase blood flow to speed the healing process, increase range of motion, or relax the musculature to help your body respond after an adjustment.

Our massage therapist utilizes multiple techniques depending on your needs, including deep tissue, sports massage, therapeutic focused massage, cupping, and more
Cupping is used by many individuals ranging from weekend warriors to professional athletes. The method was traditionally used in Chinese medicine to draw toxins from the blood. Research has shown that the wonderful therapeutic effects of cupping are more likely associated with an increase in blood flow to the area, stimulating healing and muscle relaxation. More modern science also suggests that cupping positively influences both muscles and nerves by stretching and mobilizing fascia, which is an important structure overlying and encapsulating each muscle.
What to expect: Our licensed massage therapist Katie will be working with you on your day of arrival. Please call ahead to schedule an appointment. Again, you do not need to be an established chiropractic patient to enjoy the benefits of massage in our office. The initial paperwork (we try to keep it short!) will be available in the office to fill out when you arrive. If you have insurance and are interested in using it for massage, please let us know in advance. One of our doctors will need to examine your case and prescribe proper massage recommendations. While some insurance covers massage in certain cases, they don’t cover a spa day! Upon completion of your initial visit forms, one of our staff will lead you to our massage suite located in a separate room of our clinic. Once in the suite you will be given time to prep for the massage. (Undergarmets are encouraged unless otherwise specified!) Table warmer, cover sheets, pillows, essential oils, are all a part of the experience, so relax, and enjoy! Communication is vital to a good massage, be sure to let our therapist know what you are comfortable with!
After your massage the therapist will leave the room for you to tidy up and will follow up with you for future recommendations. Although you are free to utilize our massage services however you see fit, we have learned that having some suggestions to help you reach your goals is often appreciated.
Our massage is sometimes covered by insurance when prescribed by one of our doctors, depending on your individual insurance policy. If your insurance does not cover massage, no worries, we book appointments by the half hour.
Feel free to contact us with any questions, we look forward to helping your body help itself!
